Resources for Adults Supporting Youth

It Takes a Village

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, or another important adult in a young person’s life, they need our support in this season of life. This is a drastically different era from the one in which we were raised (whether you are Gen X, Millennial, Boomer, or anything in between!), and yet the foundations of our faith remain as relevant and essential as ever before. We are here to support you in supporting the young people in your life.

Fuller Youth Institute

FYI is a leader in youth ministry, and they offer resources based on research and experience for parents and youth leaders alike. Their Parent Resource Library is a good place to start, and their books, such as Sticky Faith and Growing With, are full of practical tips and insights.

These are spaces where discussions of the reality of raising young people of faith today are honest, pragmatic, and still hopeful!

Grow Christians

This resource strives to create an online community of discipleship focused on the practical details of life at home. Gathering reflections, stories, images, and recipes from diverse Episcopalians, this group blog inspires generations to come together as they celebrate the presence of God through the Christian year.

Vibrant Faith at Home

This index of activities addresses a number of topics through a Christian faith lens. Produced in the mid-2010s, many still stand the test of time and they are a useful reference.

Prayer for Young Persons, Book of Common Prayer, p. 829

God our Father, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
